Dragon Age Inquisition Best Mage Build – Try this

Dragon Age Inquisition has one of the most interesting builds a character system of any game I have played.

I have put a ton of hours into this game and my character of choice is a mage.

I spent a long time looking for the best mage builds, but I have found what I feel is not only the Dragon Age Inquisition best mage build but also a build that is an absolute blast to play as.

Having trouble finding out the best staff for your mage build?

Take a look at our best staff list in Dragon Age Inquisition.

Elemental Mage Build

Let me start by saying that the coolest thing about this mage build is that while I have called it the Elemental Mage Build, you can actually use this on any kind of Mage.

The reason for this is that it does not actually require any kind of specialization skills. This is awesome as it gives you a lot of room to play with.

This build has 4 different spell schools that it can access. What is neat about this is that it allows you to dish out a large amount of damage which is a lot of fun.

But if you like to play as a support class so you can do that as it can make use of barrier and revival. You will find that your AOE damage is very high which is great.

DAI How to Spend Points

Here is how you want to spend your points across the four mage builds. You are looking at spending 21 points which when you consider how versatile this mage build is, is not bad at all.

It is very easy to see why this is the Dragon Age Inquisition best mage build in many people’s eyes.

Spirit

Barrier, Elegant Defense, Guardian Spirit, Mind Blast, Revival,  Desperation, Strength Of Spirits

Storm

Chain Lightning, Storm Bringer, Gathering Storm, Static Cage

Inferno

Immolate, Flashpoint, Pyromancer, Fire Mine, Flaming Array

Winter

Fade Step, Energizing Step, Winter Stillness, Ice Mine, Chilling Array

What Order Do I Spend My Points?

Some builds may require you to spend your points in a very specific way in order to make the build the best it can be.

This build makes use of all four trees which can seem a little confusing, especially as you are spending 21 points across the four trees.

Apparently, there is no official best way to go about spending your points. However, you really want to start things off with Barrier.

Then you are best getting those inferno abilities. If you upgrade yourself to Fire Mine this is going to be great when it comes to boosting your damage.

Once you have your Barrier and inferno skills all sorted you can then go ahead and take care of the rest of your Spirit skills.

Now you are actually able to get revival this way you can take care of the rest of the party and not have to worry about them dying every time you come across some tougher enemies. Which as we all know is super annoying!

After this, you are left with your Storm and Winter skills. In all honesty, I would suggest you do the Winter skills first, but in the grand scheme of things, it really does not matter.

That is one of the things I love about this build and one of the things that make this the Dragon Age Inquisition best mage build. I found that Winter was the way to go as I felt that my CC was lacking.

However, if mana is an issue for you then you may want to take care of Fade Step first and make sure that is upgraded.

Tips For Playing As This Mage Build

I want to make sure that you know what you are doing so here are some general tips that can help you get the most out of this mage build.

Tip 1: First thing you want to do is keep Barrier up all the time. This allows you to go around the map/ level dishing out damage and not having to worry too much about taking serious damage.

Tip 2: When attacking enemies you really want to make Fire Mine your go-to ability. It is your most damaging spell that you have and it can cause some serious damage. Just remember that in order to use your Flaming Array upgrade, you have to get in nice and close.

Tip 3: You no doubt will be wondering on how you can generate mana. Well, the way to do that with this build is with Fade Step. Fade Step is awesome and really can get you a ton of mana, especially as the more enemies you fade through the more mana you are going to get back.

Tip 4: Getting reliable CC may be something that you feel is a headache. With this build though thanks to Ice Mine you can get CC very reliably. Ice Mine is also awesome when it comes to generating various skill combos.

Tip 4: When you have a cluster of enemies together, three or more. Use Lightning Cage and watch the carnage unfold!

Tip 5: When it comes to Immolate you are best using it to generate skill combos. Also, it can come in handy when your more prominent and used skills are cooling down.

Tip 6: Make use of Chain Lighting. You may think this sounds weird, but it comes in very handy as a DPS spell.

Tip 7: Here is a great tip if you want to dish out some really heavy duty damage. Use Revival with the Desperation upgrade. If two of your party members fall and are close to each other use it then.

As you can see this is a very powerful build that is great when it comes to dishing out damage and also when you are needed to support the party.

This is my main build and I can see why it is regarded as the Dragon Age Inquisition best mage build. It actually makes playing Dragon Age Inquisition even more fun.

The Dragon Age Inquisition player who came up with this build is called Dorian of House None of Your Business and he has done a truly incredible job.
